The Ring

I can't help but want to write a post about my ring. When Walt and I first started looking at rings I feel in love with the cushion cut- its like a mix between princess and round cut. It looks very vintage to me. It turns out there are all sorts of different cushion cuts- from "modified brilliant" being my absolute least favorite to "brilliant", which is what my stone is. We looked and looked at settings but never found one that we were crazy about. The more we looked, the more Walt learned. He became obsessive. One night he stayed up untill 3 am watching videos on youtube about diamonds. Before we started looking, I had to have a stone replaced in a ring that belonged great-grandmother and found a really nice store that makes their own jewlery- Isbell Jewelers on hwy 280. We ended up going there and describing what I liked- halo, plain band, antique look- and what I didn't like- prongs showing, sitting up too high, and this is what they made. Just the most beautiful ring I could have ever dreamed up. Thank you, Walt.

  1. I'm probably going to be obsessive and comment on all of your postings, but I know you will secretly love it.

Until I read this I didn't realize I don't like seeing the prongs either. I feel like they take away from the sparkle of the diamond. I love simple bands too. I really, REALLY like your ring. It's totally you.

  2. Custom jewelry is the way to go. Mine was fashioned after something we saw at D Geller and Sons (ridiculous people there, BTW). Anyhoo, you will love not having prongs sticking up. READ: you will be able to put your hand in your pocket without it snagging EVERY time. :)

And of course, Walt did good and the ring looks great!
