Honeymoon (Part 1 of 100)

So, I can't imagine why, but I'm really excited about the Honeymoon (Hence the 1 of 100 title - we're gonna talk about this a lot.) The only problem is, we have no idea where we want to go. One day we'll say the beach, another the mountains. Stay in the states, or try to go down to the Caribbean? The options are really only limited by the question "can we afford it?".

My favorite for today:

Tree House Point

They say: "TreeHouse Point is an intimate alternative for individuals and groups who seek comfort and style in friendly and natural surroundings. All accommodations are well designed and artfully decorated, with touches like handmade beds, original art and charming vintage furnishings." By "alternative" they mean "really rad tree houses nestled over a raging river". They have 4 or 5 tree houses to choose from and each is unique and amazingly beautiful.

We'd love to hear your story. If you're married and went on a honeymoon, where did you go? Or if you aren't, where would you go? Leave a comment below!

The location part 2

Here are some more pictures from out location. The first is of the arbor, where I want to have the ceremony. You can see the hydrangia bushes on either side, which will hopefully be in full bloom in June. I love it because it really doesn't need any decorations. Its so naturally beautiful. Just imagine chrsitmas lights filling up the top area. The only problem is the view. I'm not sure where the attendants would stand so that they can see without being in everyones way. Suggestions?
Next up is the Pavillion. You can see how huge it is. We'll have several tables set up and a dance area maybe in the center. I'd

like to wrap rope lights around the support beams and have large lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Other than that, there are no other decoration "plans" We want to use a lot of indirect lighting- so candles are also an idea we're playing with. I just don't want anyone (me) catching on fire. I'm too clumsy to have a ton of candles at my wedding.

The Tuxedo

Hi Team, it's Walt! Let's talk menswear. My mother and father are both very stylish and fashion conscious. So I'll blame them for my general interest in fashion and menswear. When Kelly said "I want my man in a tux" I knew I would love shopping for a tuxedo. That's right, shopping... not renting. We're going all in.

So at first, I didn't know a thing about tuxedos. But, I've had a few months now to research and read and this guy leads the pack:

Slim, black and classic are essential. But this one has little touches that make it my own. Notice the shawl collar and single button. Love it. I'm still looking, but if we decided to elope tomorrow (always a possibility) I'd order this from J. Crew really quickly before heading to Vegas.

The Bridesmaid Dresses

Right now, this is the general look I'm thinking for the girls. I love the JCrew bridesmaid dresses. I'm thinking about saying any dress from JCrew in the color graphite. There are about 10 to choose from and they all are really cute. This is Amelia's favorite. I love how light and flowy it is. What do you guys think? Do you like when bridesmaids all have the exact same dress, or different dressses in the same color? They would wear this with black shoes and accessories.

The Ring

I can't help but want to write a post about my ring. When Walt and I first started looking at rings I feel in love with the cushion cut- its like a mix between princess and round cut. It looks very vintage to me. It turns out there are all sorts of different cushion cuts- from "modified brilliant" being my absolute least favorite to "brilliant", which is what my stone is. We looked and looked at settings but never found one that we were crazy about. The more we looked, the more Walt learned. He became obsessive. One night he stayed up untill 3 am watching videos on youtube about diamonds. Before we started looking, I had to have a stone replaced in a ring that belonged great-grandmother and found a really nice store that makes their own jewlery- Isbell Jewelers on hwy 280. We ended up going there and describing what I liked- halo, plain band, antique look- and what I didn't like- prongs showing, sitting up too high, and this is what they made. Just the most beautiful ring I could have ever dreamed up. Thank you, Walt.

The Photographer

My college friend, Amy Truelove will be our photographer. I've always been mesmerized by her photography and the first "vendor" I contacted was her. Her pictures are just insanely good. Go check out her website: http://www.blogger.com/www.amyarrington.com and her blog (which has lots and lots of pictures): http://amyarrington.com/blog/

The Venue

When we were discussing wedding venues one of my soccer players told me about Aldridge Botanical Gardens (http://aldridgegardens.com/). We visited it and loved it immediately. There are so many beautiful spaces in the gardens, including a large lake. I visited it yesterday with my fam and they were setting up for a wedding. This picture was taken around 4 o'clock and our ceremony will be at 6. The arbor you see here is filled with little christmas lights, so it will be all lit up for us. There are many other ceremony sites over the gardens. This is my favorite. The reception site is right beside it, in a covered pavillion (with a thousand ceiling fans!). We haven't decided much more than this, except hanging lanterns would be really nice in the pavillion.

The Dress

I've been dress shopping 3 times total. The first with my best friend and MOH, Amelia. The second with 3 of my bridesmaids- Erin, Carlee, and Holly. The last with my mom, grandmother, and little girl Kate. At the first trip I tried on the dress I thought I was in love with and it turned out to be too wintery. Then I tried on another that was covered in flowers that I really loved, despite weighing 30lbs. On the second trip I tried on some dresses I wasn't too crazy about then took the girls to see the flower dress. While there, I saw another woman wearing a really beautiful dress. I tried it on and fell in love with it. Its perfect- I feel like a goddess in it. I just wasn't ready to buy it yet. Yesterday I took my fam back to see the goddess dress and they loved it too. So I bought it! Right then and there. And shoes, too!
This picture is not the goddess dress, but its really funny and I wish I could try it on. I think of Amelia when I see it.

Our Engagement Story

Walt and I went to Fort Morgan beach for the weekend back in April for my friend (who is also our photographer) Amy's wedding. We got down there late Friday night, woke up Saturday, went fishing all morning, and played on the beach. I got really, really sunburned. That night we went to Amy's wedding and I was popping advil all night just to tolerate the sunburn. The next morning, Sunday, Walt woke me up and wanted to go for a walk on the beach to see the sunrise. My skin hurt really bad but Walt was being so sweet I couldn't turn him down. We got maybe 10 steps down the beach before I started whining about my sunburn. He stopped me and said, "Kelly, I've loved you since the day I met you." Always quick to make a joke I said back, "So now you don't love me anymore?" He said, "No, I'm going to love you forever..." and started down on his knees. I really thought he was messing with me and was about to get mad when he pulled out the ring box. Of course I said yes and forgot all about my sunburn.
